02What personal information do we collect, and how?

We collect and process your personal information in several ways, so that we can provide our services in a more personalised and relevant manner. This happens when:

  • you visit the Website and use your account to buy items, or to buy or redeem online vouchers, or you correspond with us by phone, email or otherwise;
  • you make an online purchase or check out as a guest (in which case we only collect the transaction-based data we need to deliver your purchase);
  • you register an account with us;
  • you engage with us on social media, by email or through the chat feature;
  • you contact us by any other means with queries, complaints and so on; or
  • you report a problem with our Website.

By registering an account, you consent to the collection of your personal data. If you place an order, we hold personal information including your contact details (name, email address, phone numbers, postal home address, and delivery and billing addresses) and your billing and payment information (such as, but not limited to, bank account details, credit or debit card number, cardholder name, expiry date and authentication code), so that we can process and fulfil your order.

Saved card payment details are never shared with third parties and are used only to process your order, through our secure payment partner's systems. We may also obtain your personal information as a result of authentication or identity checks.

We sometimes ask for your telephone number. We may give this number to our courier for delivery services, or to our Customer Experience team so they can contact you. These details also allow us to process your order and tell you its status.

In specific situations, we need your data to pursue our legitimate interests in ways you could reasonably expect as part of running our business, and which do not materially affect your rights, freedoms or interests. For example, we use your purchase history to send you more personalised content. We also combine the shopping history of many customers to identify trends, keep up with demand and develop new products or services. We always keep this data anonymous.

Each time you visit the Website, we may automatically collect:

  • technical information, including the internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the internet, your login information, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, and your operating system and platform;
  • information about your visit, including the full clickstream of Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) to, through and from the Website (with date and time), page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks and mouse-overs), and the methods used to browse away from the page; and
  • any phone number or email address used to communicate with our Customer Experience team.

03How and why do we use your personal data?

We may use your personal information to process orders and payments and to give you a personalised shopping experience. We also use your details to fulfil and deliver your orders and manage your account. Personal information you provide may be disclosed to a credit reference or fraud prevention agency, which may keep a record of it. Where we have a legal obligation to do so, we may disclose your information to any relevant regulatory body.

We may also use your personal information to send you marketing updates and information about the goods and services we offer, but only in line with your preferences (see Marketing below). We do not sell or provide your details to third-party marketing companies.

Finally, we may use your personal information, together with non-personal data, for our internal marketing and demographic studies and to monitor customer patterns, so we can keep improving the Website design to better meet our visitors' needs. We use this data anonymously and in aggregated form.

The applicable data privacy law allows this as part of our legitimate interest in understanding our customers and providing the highest levels of service and experience.

If you wish to change how we use your data, see Your rights below.

We also collect and process your personal information:

  • to notify you about changes to our service;
  • to make sure content from the Website is presented in the most effective way for you and for your computer or other device;
  • to administer the Website and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes;
  • to improve the Website so that content is presented in the most effective manner;
  • to let you take part in interactive features of our service, if any;
  • as part of our efforts to keep the Website safe and secure;
  • to measure or understand the effectiveness of the advertising we serve you; and
  • to make suggestions and recommendations about goods or services that may interest you.

If you choose not to share your personal data with us, or refuse certain contact permissions, we might not be able to provide some of the services you have asked for. For example, if you ask to be notified when an item is back in stock, we cannot tell you unless you have given us your general consent to hear from us, or if you gave that consent and later withdrew it.

  • We work closely with the third parties we engage to make sure your privacy is fully respected and protected at all times.

  • For fraud management, we may share information about fraudulent or potentially fraudulent activity in our systems. This may include sharing data about individuals with law enforcement bodies.
  • We may also be required to disclose your personal data to the police or other enforcement, regulatory or government bodies, in your country of origin or elsewhere, on a valid request. These requests are assessed case by case and take our customers' privacy into consideration.
